View Full Version : Expired DUPLA co2 tank

Hey guys I need some help! I just picked up a used Dupla co2 tank (german made) and forgot to check the hydrostatic date. The guy sold it for a really good price so I jumped on it. I'm still not even sure if places refill these, anyways do anyone know if someone can refill these tanks or even swap it out? Or did I just lose out on a deal? I heard airgas swaps out tanks but I'm not sure if they would even take this tank with it being euro made. Any help is greatly appreciated! Sorry if this question has been answered. BTW the date on the bottle is 6/84 @ 94..:confused: 387838793880

Does it have the standard threads or is it metric? As long as it has standard threads it should be refillable. You may have to pay to have it hydro tested first tho

The threads looks standard. You think something from 1994 is still good? Lol I'm asking in all seriousness.

As long as its the standard CGA-320 thread you should be fine. Most welding and gas supply will want a current hydro test before filling it

Ok so I'm guessing since it isn't a US made bottle that noone would probably swap it out?

What I meant to say is that it isn't your typical co2 bottle.

You can try. Worse case they say no

True. Know of any place that does hydro testing around our area?

It looks like either a standard or European thread. I can fill that bottle no problem at my store... but it would have to be hydro tested first for sure. You will find a place to swap it, but they will still require a current hydro test for a swap.

I swap my tanks at Airgas at 3424 Miller Drive, Chamblee, GA 30341 (phone (770) 451-2714 ). You could call first and ask, but if it were me, I think I would just take the tank there, and swap it out. I have had them swap out of date tanks before (though they were probably not european). I thought that was why they swapped them, in case yours had expired. It is worth a shot. Also, that is probably a long drive from Hoschton, so you might want to see if they have a closer location!
