Has anyone here ever attempted to make their own (large) ply+fiberglass tank?

I have a full 180g setup, but it just won't fit in the house well. One alternative is to create a taller, less wide tank to fit the space I do have. I've been contemplating something along the lines of the Amazon tank that houses the discus at the Atl Aquarium - although not on such a vast scale. (this one: http://photos.plaxo.com/photos/get/32/13/66/120/4026/102944-m-0.jpg )

I'm curious about how long the tank may last and any other negatives associated with it that people have discovered. There are a ton of how to videos out there, but rarely do you see what has happened with the tank long term.

I found a thread showing some examples, but again no real description of how long they last:

Following this thread, as this sounds interesting!

I love the set up at the Georgia Aquarium, however it was changed a lot!

I've never done it, but I have run across a pretty good youtube series on building plywood tanks. He also has lots of other DIY projects including 3d backgrounds and I believe some decorations. He may also have a few other videos outside of the series on building plywood aquariums.

Thanks for the youtube link. It is surprisingly hard to find solid information on some of these topics. A lot of gung-ho folks put up info on their start process, but never follow up with what happened to things they've made over time.

If done right there are plywood tanks that have lasted 20+ years.
