View Full Version : Rams in cooler temps

I'm curious what would happen if Rams were kept at cooler temperatures, such as 76-78F.

I know fish that prefer cooler water, and are put in warmer water will have a higher metabolism and a shorter live, but curious about the vice-versa.....

I don't think it would affect them to much. But yes that's a very interesting thought.

I disagree. Rams live and do best in warmer water. Around 82 is ideal for them. That is what makes them great tank mates for discus and angels. Just my 2 cents..........I've been breeding rams for a number of years now. Can it be done, yes, but not where they really need to be.

I just saw my last post, it was post to be do not don't. Autocorrect, I hate it.

I think they would have poorer color and be less likely to breed. I think they would live and in the wild the water likely gets cooler part of the year.

It was just a thought, I was curious if there was a reason why....

I will keep them at warmer temps then.
