View Full Version : Preventing background plants from coming forward?

I recently planted a row of vals at the back of a tank, hoping to get a nice background. I can't believe I'm typing this (because plants die quickly in my tanks lol), but the vals are doing very well and sending lots of runners to the foreground. They are taking over almost half of the tank now.

I guess I can keep plucking the new ones off but is there any method in general to stop background plants from growing too much into the mid- or foreground?

Maybe burying a solid barrier such as a sheet of plexiglass in the substrate, a sort of underground "fence"?
