I got 2 electric blue Acaras at the last auction, and they have made themselves right at home. They started out with an oto and now 3 of my cardinals are MIA, expensive to feed them! Bah!!

This morning I found out I have a fertile pair, so that's good I think? Until I see tons of leaves on the surface... Little monsters! Needless to say the eggs are in productive custody, LOL they are not happy! Still guarding their spot. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161017/c5e8fe8b256cc57fe1e2fd2e74a032b9.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161017/385a558c0c096e82f81417a64d3dd55a.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161017/e12d69ce901c43aeaaaeb4533ab8245e.jpg

Did you have any luck with the eggs/fry?

So the first batch I placed into a marina Breeder box (with water flowing through) but they died rapidly. I think they weren't eating properly.

Second time around I placed the pair into a 20G high and they laid eggs on 11-6. Removed the male shortly after, and it was amazing to see how the mom moved the fry around the tank! I started feeding them one of the tiny golden pearl fry foods I have, I couldn't tell if they were eating it or not. I took the mom out on Thursday and moved the fry to a heavily planted 10G with some shrimp culls. I'm not sure if they are going to make it.

Before I try again, I'm going to get a Vinegar eel and banana work culture, and see if that works. If anyone else has any ideas let me know!

Mine have done well on Golden Pearls, bbs and microworms, so your plan to add some live foods is probably good.

What size golden pearls did you use? I feel they are too big for them...

I started with 50-100 micron, then moved up to the 200-300 micron size after a couple weeks.

ive used decapuslated brine shrimp for almost all my fry and it works great. frozen rotifers have been the ticket for angelfish fry, or green water, and lots of water changes

Are the decapusalted BS dry, liquid, or frozen?

Is that the first food you fed them?

Wish I good get a good green water culture going!

Thanks!

The Decapsulated BBS that I have seen is dry. They look like normal Brine Shrimp eggs, just with the shells removed. This makes it able to be fed directly to the fish without the need of hatching the brine shrimp. I personally have never used it, but saw the decapsulated variety when I was purchasing my Brine Shrimp eggs.

Hope this helps.

I also use the dry decap brine shrimp. Works well for small fry, but I find it more inconvenient because you have to soak it before feeding. I use it occasionally just to add more variety. I feed fry 3-4 times a day, and just alternate foods at each feeding.
