View Full Version : Grow your tank

Just a little demonstration of what a 20gal Long can grow to in a little over a year... No ferts, no CO2, light fish stocking (4 peacock gudgeon). Current plants are: dwarf hair-grass, several amazon sword of various sizes, and a large crypt. Almost all of these were divided from parents plants in my other tanks. (I also grow anubias but have none in this tank) First photo was taken April 2016, second August 2017. 55515550

So what light do you have over the tank?

the plant in the middle is an amazon sword. They will outgrow a 20gal too so I keep it pruned back so that its stays smaller. The light over the tank is an aqueon bulb in an overpriced crappy fixture. I bought like basically a "petsmart setup" before I knew any better. All the rest of my tanks have LEDs and I plan on switching this over eventually as well, but for some reason this bulb wont die and give me an excuse to upgrade. I've had it on there since I set the tank up in December of 2015

I can give you a reason if the bulb is that old. :) Fluorescent light output drops over time. Quite a bit, in fact.

I'm sure it has lost output over time. But it doesn't seem to have impacted the tank negatively at all- mainly because almost all the plants are happy with low-light (except the hairgrass). It still should die eventually though right? (edit: "it" being the light)

Now, after yours are in your place I keep 13 in the same size than yours are.As I had a look to the sexes of your order I had none of the fish which left here. ThatA?s why I have only 2 males and 11 females. The parents of them also lived in a 60 g tank. But they were 15m/8 f. and everything went well. Also some fry could grow up in that tank without taking out them for some time. http://sus.co.ua dreasia
