View Full Version : Any experience breeding Rainbow Sharks?

I have 2 rainbow sharks inmy 55 gal tank. One is almost 5" and really full in the body. The other is about 3.5" and much more streamlined. From what I am reading, I assume the larger us a female. There has only ever been mild territorial chasing. The tank is large enough that they are not overly agresive towards each other.

Recently, they have been getting a lot more friendly. I have observed so.e ritual body rubbing and dancing between the two. Also, the chasing has seemed to cease... mostly. They even swim side by side occasionally.

When I searched the internet, all I found was how difficult it was to get them to breed. Often, hormones are used to induce breeding. These two are looking like they want to get it on naturally. The tank they're in has too many members for dry or eggs to survive. I have a 10 gal breeder tank and another 55 gal grow out tank.

Has anyone got any experience and advice in breeding the sharks? Thanks.
