Here's a map of locations of stuff like this in the CO2 refills:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=114481471453144008061.00047fe44e03d5a382ca2&ll=33.832779,-84.357147&spn=0.595468,1.352692&z=10

There's not one in Alpharetta on the map, but if you find one up there, please add it to the map. Usually CO2 refill places are in somewhat industrial areas....pretty much the exact opposite of Alpharetta.

thank you for the reply.

I'll call around tomorrow if there's one nearby and I'll update the list if I do find one.

I get my Co2 at http://beveragecontrol.net/. It is close to my office. You might give http://www.smithwelding.com/ a call. They are in Cumming.

Bear in mind that Beverage Control http://beveragecontrol.net/ has moved. Their new location is only around the corner, on S. Atlanta Drive, but I would call them first to get directions, as it appears their website does not reflect the new address.

I just found a new place, near the end of Clairmont Rd, where it dead ends into Peachtree Industrial Blvd. Their information is:
Name: Airgas South, 3424 Miller Drive, Chamblee GA 30341 Phone: (770) 451-2714 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (770) 451-2714 end_of_the_skype_highlighting Fax: (770) 986-9902.

I had to go to the Airgas place as my cO2 tank was expired, and Beverage Control couldn't refill it. Beverage control wanted $20 for another tank, and another $20 to fill it. Airgas just wanted $23 to swap the empty expired tank for a full unexpired one. They were the least expensive I could find. (Though I guess Chamblee is not really close to Alpharetta.)

Yup, I went to the old location after I got the plants from you a couple of weeks ago. Note on the door telling me they had moved. Didn't look to see that the web site doesn't reflect the move. Thanks for pointing that out.

Airgas may not be close to Alpharetta but it is a lot closer than Beverage Control!! I may have to check them out.

I had one expired last time I went in. They gave me one of their full tanks while mine was sent out for testing. I didn't pay a extra fee. Just the charge for having it tested.

This is exactly what I do.

Refill at Bev Control, Swap at Airgas.

Would either one of these two places be ideal to make the initial purchase of a Co2 tank?
I do not have Co2 tank yet, but plan on getting on soon.
Or is there somewhere else that may be more cost effective?

Thanks

What size tank will you be looking for? I have some 5lb tanks and would consider selling one.

There's a place in John's Creek or maybe Suwannee. on 141 almost across the street from Marine Design. And another in Cumming right off 400 off Pilgrim Mill Road.

I may be interested in your offer Larry,

As I try to figure this out, pardon my ignorance. A CO2 tank that is "expired" means that it has just reached the limit of refills it can hold and has exhausted itself?

As I understand it, tanks must be pressure tested at intervals. Expired means that it is not legal to fill until retested.

That is correct. A Co2 tank has to be pressure tested every 5 years to insure it is still safe to use.

Two places I know of for CO2 refills that are both reasonably priced.

Paintball Atlanta - Roswell store
11060 Alpharetta Highway, Roswell GA
Can fill smaller tanks but also tried to fill my 20lb.

and

Beer NecessitiesOld Alabama Road Conn
Alpharetta, Georgia 30076

Again can fill smaller bottles but send out larger ones. Usually takes a week if they send it out.

Beverage Control off of Mountain Industrial is great, it's just that their hours are limited (no weekends from what I remember right now).
They will refill a 5 lb. for $10, which with a solenoid and not 24/7 CO2, on one aquarium will last a long time.

Anyone know of any links to where I can get a good CO2 system (fully automated) from?

I am thinking something along the lines of this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Milwaukee-SMS122-MA957-pH-Controller-CO2-Regulator-/280161980532?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item413af49074

Please share thoughts and experiences with this brand if you'd like.

Have you looked at greenleafaquariums systems? http://www.greenleafaquariums.com/co2-regulators.html
I've used their "primo" regulators for a couple of years with good results. I don't use a ph probe/controller, just a drop checker to get the bubble count set.

Orlando at Greenleaf is very good to deal with. He is a planted tank nut that started selling some regulator parts and other stuff and the business grew into a very good planted tank supplier. Another couple of planted tank guys that started a good C02 business is http://sumoregulator.com/. I have a couple of the Milwaukee and I won't endorse them. The needle valve on a Co2 system is the most important part in my book and the one on the Milwaukee is sub par IMO. I ended up replacing them on two Milwaukee regulators. I also ended up replacing a solenoid on one of them. I like buying a good two stage regulator on Ebay and then adding the remainder of the parts needed. I always bought my parts from Sumo.

Great links!! I'm going to take my time and carefully research through these websites and get back when I come across something I am not sure about. Thanks folks !!
