Got 8x from a friend. They've been around in the hobby and got officially described this year by Kullander (www.mapress.com/zootaxa/2012/f/zt03197p054.pdf)

Thanks guys :)

Ron - I got them a couple of weeks ago and have been lowering pH from 7.8 (my friend's water) to 5.5 (my water) in a QT tank. I moved them into the "final destination" Tuesday. Guess they liked it :$

Bravo, Sir...Bravo! Those are some real nice lookers. They don't appear to be like most cichlids in the way they are allowing those Geos to get so close to their spawning site. Keep us posted on how they do.

Thanks JB :) They are very gentle and chase each other occasionally, but never showed aggression toward other fish. They also see to be more comfortable among plants. No eating/pulling/digging though.

Half of the eggs hatched and the female moved the wigglers to a pit next to the rock. I removed all the dither Geos last night. Hope to see free swimming fry in a few days :)

They sure look a whole lot more peaceful when compared to the geos during a spawn!

They sure are. I was very surprised. They have a mean look but a very mild temperament.

I pulled the fry and they spawned again. That's two spawns within 8 days. I'm not prepared for this!

They will spawn a lot, I'm surprised they are not more common, I got rid of mine because they spawned too much!

This is what they looked like when you sold them to Ryan in Oct. 2009, when they were 2":

A little update - they spawned 4-5 times since but I only saved the first batch. They are almost 1" now and eating well on flakes
