I am possibly going to setup a planted tank, no co2 bottle or such yet but I am wanting to get a good plant light for maybe a 55 or 40 breeder (36"x18"). Suggestions please.

I have no comment on the light but about that tank .A breeder tank?
That is normally about 12" tall. If you plant something you are going to lose 2" or so for the roots and another inch from the surface so you are looking to grow plants under 9" ? There are a couple of good ones for that but you still might be limiting yourself.

I agree. I bought the tanks and stored them in Larry's garage, temporarily!!! I did not really take a good look, as I was more interested in the discus. But it looked more than 12", maybe 15" or so. But if it is only 12" I will not do it and go with the 55. And I am more interested in growing anubias and dwarf sag, dwarf swords and mossy types than larger plants. Although, some large leaf rotalia might be nice.

I'm starting my first planted tank now so I don't know how well this light is going to perform, but I have pretty high hopes for it. After reading this thread earlier this week http://www.atlantaaquarium.com/showthread.php?6172-Odyssea-aquatraders-lights-and-good I went ahead and ordered an Odyssea 48" dual t-5 from the e-bay guy for $60. He shipped the next day, UPS says it will be here Wednesday (I need to stop ordering stuff right before the weekend).

I have the 4 bulb fixture and it just gives me low to med light with the original bulbs.
You should have bought the 4 bulb. Or just buy a HD diamondplate fixture, that light gives about 60 par at 20" from substrate (thats medium light)

The Yellow line is for the 36" odyssea fixture
