It was real stiff competition among the 3 or 4 fish in my class. http://www.atlantaaquarium.com/images/icons/wink.gifurl Difficult to say how many were in the Apisto and similar as the fish were scattered around and most were not labeled as to class. The only other Apisto (triple orange flash) was in the Ornamental class.

I was able to thank both Ken and Felipe Cantera (who spoke at the convention) for collection the parents of these fish.

Very few South American dwarfs showing or for sale. Lots of rams in every hue and only one other pair of Apistos for sale. There could have been more before I arrived Thursday evening - there were a lot of losses in the rental tanks when I was adding my fish. Africans seemed to move quickly but there didn't seem to be a lot of interest in soft water fish. I brought 19 pairs of borellii and the best price I got was $40 for 3 pair. I was cutting deals just so I didn't have to bag or register for the auction.

I just wanted to add that all of the males in the trios I have sold in our club are brothers of the two I entered in the show. That's why I included the sales prices - to let you know how your investment can pay off.

So, does this mean we can charge more for our F2's? LOL!

I am officially calling my fry J-1s, as the first progeny from Jim's award winning strain (achieved after years of endless and painstaking work). You know when I bought these fish they were over $500 per pair! But now, they can be had for the low, low price of $250.00 a pair. That's nearly half off!! Great job Jim! Once again I have brushed elbows with, but not actually achieved, fame. Congratulations!

Whoo whoo, super-congrats to you! How was Denver?

Is this your guy? If so, he's in Mo's fish album from the ACA: http://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/998032_534264863307321_533246164_n.jpg

Yes - that's the winner. He had better coloring where the other (in my opinion) had better finnage. That is one pissed off fish! After the photo shoot Mo (jokingly) said he does not want to take pictures of Apistos ever again. They did not respond well to his prodding with a straw to get them into position, and refused to cooperate. He felt that he could not get a decent picture of any of the 3 Apistos in the show.
