This system was originally set up for saltwater. That was about eight years ago. It ran for six months and has been in storage since.
Included: tank lids stand sump pump actinic lights (details to come) ballasts hood 300w heater.

For those of you who have been around a while, please take a moment and let me know how much you think this is worth and how much I might be able to get for it on.. Craigslist, this forum, consignment.. What's my best course of action? I'm considering selling the lights separately.

Selling a big tank always means taking a big hit. A complete system often goes for $3 /gallon on local craigslist, with bare tanks going for $1 / gallon. Parting out often gets more, but sometimes get you stuck with a canopy or stand. You have good pictures and everything is clean, that should help. This forum is a good place to start. Prices are usually similar to CL with fewer scammers and no-shows. But you may get more on a SW-centered venue as not all of us FW sorts appreciate the money in sumps and lights and won't spend on actinic bulbs we intend to swap out. Aquabid.com may also be worth a shot. I've seen tanks go on e-bay for what I thought were too high prices, but they take a cut.

The longer you have to sell it, the better you can do. But don't put it in a garage or shed where it become unsightly or worse, leaking.

Mid march, you can get more when people have refund checks.
Right now, after Christmas, you are going to take it in the shorts.

I'd agree with waiting for mid-March to April for best return. You may also want to watch the wanted ads on ARC. Generally, if it is something close to what someone is actively looking for you'll be able to get a better price.

Thanks for your thoughts guys! I was concerned about the post Christmas spending lull but didn't think about tax returns. I can wait that long.

What is ARC? Too many million google results to go through.

Any value estimates?

Sorry... I suck at price estimates. I'd think you could be looking at around $400. Just a guess though.

ebay completed/sold listings is usually a decent way to estimate value. Looks like $350+ with some places getting a lot more $ than others. Only thing more varied is the asking price.

I do not know anything about the consignment market, of whether you could put it in a place with a bunch of antiques or put a sign up in the local LFS.

Dual overflows and intact plumbing with sump should add something of a premium to it.

On second thought..... wait. It is worth $20, but I'll give you $50 for it! :D

What are the tank dimensions? How long has it been in storage?
