I have so far two of these shrimps (http://www.atlantaaquarium.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2943&d=1400769006). Can someone tell me what they are (variance of red cherry shrimp?)

Thank you,

Pierre

Looks like a Chocolate or Black Cherry or Black Sakura variety of the neos.

Or, if that is an actual stripe and not lighting, then maybe Black Zebra

Looks like it might be a hybrid throwback. I have seen a few throwbacks like this when different color strains interbreed. Is it black or a very dark bluish when hit with high light? You say you two, did they crop out of cherries or ...?

Thank you Rhaethe for the link. It seems closest to the Neocaridina heteropoda " Black Satura".

Roger, initially I thought it came from RCS, but in fact came as blue grass shrimps 2 years ago and since have evolved with various colors of green / blue to brown and black. So they are definitely Neocaridina sp.

Many of the RCS around come from Neocaridina davidi (name has changed a few times over the years, one name was heteropoda another denticulata sinensis ). However, some rcs have come from Neocaridina zhangjiajiensis. The latter has a more bluish wild type the former more green brown. One originates from Malaysia the other Taiwan. If I recall correctly. Both species have rcs forms and crossing these get hybrid color types.
