View Full Version : Karen Randall - Algae eater

I lost my notes of the meeting when Karen Randall came. She talked about a great algae eater that does not get "seduced" by other food. Does anyone remember its name?

Thank you,

Garra flavatra is the scientific name There are lots of fish in the garra genus not sure if all are algae eaters. I can get these from time to time from the transshippper but have to get about 60 . If enough people wanted them I could bring them in. I think they run around $3.50--$4 each with shipping costs

What kind of algae do they eat?

All kinds, but they are big eaters of BBA.

I tried looking around for some about 6 months ago, but everyone was having a lot of trouble importing healthy individuals.

Hello Bob,

Maybe we can run a list? I'd like at least 10 (many tanks ;-)
