When they call it Tilapia, I am going to think of the North and West African Riverine speicies.

However, I am starting to suspect it is Rift Lake.
I do not have any rift lake aquariums. Is spending two months in a soft and acid Krib tank going to kill, stunt, injure, or deform it?

At the moment, it is swimming actively and not yet showing any ill effects.

The fish is still very active and healthy, and about 3-4 inches long.

I was finally able to ID this fish.

Coptodon snyderae is a critically endangered (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critically_endangered) species of fish in the cichlid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cichlid) family. It is endemic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endemism) to Lake Bermin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Bermin) in Cameroon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameroon). (Wikipedia)

I found a little blurb on Sam Borstein's, but does anyone have any information about long term keeping this fish? Sam called it the "Convict of the West", so it should theoretically be common.

Soft water. Easy to breed. Should do fine with kribs. Nice fish.
