I have two bottom drilled tanks on top of each other and wonder if instead of have two separate pipes outflow, I could have the overflow of the top tank goes into the overflow of the bottom one.

Thank you for your comments,

Pierre

I think Len used to have an acrylic setup configured the same way

Why would you want to pour waste water from one tank into another tank. It is generally a bad idea.

Its an overflow, so the water in it should never get into the tank. Not for a QT tank, but should work for an everyday set up.

The water is not going into the tank itself, but into the overflow box (see pic), and yes, that would not be for a quarantined tank.

That will work if the overflow on the bottom tank can support the flow from the top tank + the flow from the bottom tank. If not, the water from the bottom tank may not get circulated.

Yes, I think it will work given that currently, the outflow merges to one hose before going to the sump. So I'll give a try without fish and see how it goes. Thanks all for your feedback.
