    Lead Fishing Weights

Can anyone tell me if actual lead fishing weights are toxic to fish if I use them to weight down aquarium plants?

I have been using lead plant weights to hold down zucchini and the likes for years and they are safe. Got mine on Ebay.

Should be safe for fish long term no problem there. But typically you want to remove those lead weights. They can eventually prevent the plant from growing properly. Most times the part of the stem the lead touches will eventually melt and die off.

Pretty much lead weights are inert enough to not cause a problem unless they are being eaten. Though I would use only new lead weights as the older ones will have a layer of powdery oxidation that can go in the water.
